Our top Vacation rental tips:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summer is high season in Corolla. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Walk to Corolla Village and the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
