Corolla rental booking tips:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area travel guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Currituck area:
- Start by having your group agree to dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Beach House in the 4 X 4 area of Carova Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
