Rental home booking tips:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Currituck area. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect rental home in Corolla:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Semi-Oceanfront, Wild Horses, Hot Tub, Ocean Views! 4x2000, Sandfiddler Inn has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
