Strategies for getting the best Currituck vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • To find the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing the right Currituck rental home:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. What the Shell
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Currituck beach you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
