Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Pool Access has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
