How to get the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Time To Coast: Semi-Oceanfront, Hot Tub, Ocean Views has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
