Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. Reserve your Currituck vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- First, have your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Dog-friendly golf getaway by the beach with private pool, hot tub & deck has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
