Rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. SeaClusion: Oceanside, private pool, hot tub, rec room, elevator, 180 feet to th has 7 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
