The Neighborhood:
At the end of Route 12, where the ocean and dunes prevail, is where the Villages at Ocean Hill lays its claim on the handsome, sun-kissed beaches of the northern Outer Banks. A community sitting between the serene coast of Currituck Sound and the majesty of the Atlantic Ocean, the Villages at Ocean Hill offers opportunities for family fun, sport, recreation, and sheer relaxation.

Cyclists of all ages and abilities can savor the nearly 2-mile stretch of the newly paved bicycle lane which connects VOH to the stores and community of Corolla Light. Nature lovers will appreciate the serenity of the Currituck Banks National Estuarine Reserve, adjacent to the community, for walking and appreciating the sights and sounds of the maritime forest.

Guests of Hill Cottage have the ability to use the Community Exercise Center, Pickleball Courts and Tennis Courts for a fee. Visit the Exercise Center or VOH website for additional information.

Just a few mins. north is the entrance to the 4x4 Beach, where you can take a breathtaking drive on the sand and possibly catch a glimpse of the wild horses grazing on the beach.

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Reserve your Currituck vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance.   • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective.
