• Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
• At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
• Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
• Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
