Tips and Tricks to get the best Currituck vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Currituck rental home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 7 bdrms, private pool, hot tub, ocean view, sunset\/sunrise views, multiple decks has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
