How to get the best Corolla rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Corolla. Book your Currituck vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the best Currituck vacation home:
- To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a max budget.
- Corolla has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
