Our top Currituck rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your Currituck rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and pick the rightrental:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Original Cottage, recent upgrades, Beach 100'' ,Pool, 4 Bed, and 2 Ba has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the host before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Currituck beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
