Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Currituck area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Currituck vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Currituck vacation home:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Juniper Hill: Saltwater Pool, Hot Tub, Fenced Yard has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
