Strategies to get the perfect Corolla rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Oceanside
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
