Our top Rental booking tips:
Getting the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Corolla. Book your Currituck vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the best rental home in the Currituck area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Octopus Oasis 4x4 Beach Of Carova Very Private. 4x4 is needed to access house. has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
