Finding the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in the Currituck area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Rest-A-Shore: Ocean View, Heated Pool, Hot Tub, Rec Room w\/ Pool Table has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Tips for a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
