Tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best vacation home in the Currituck area:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. PI65, Eagle's Nest- Oceanside, Close to Beach, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
