Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. Reserve your Currituck rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the right Currituck rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Shades of Summer - Spectacular Ocean Views\/165 Yards to the Beach has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Currituck beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
