Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Corolla vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the bestvacation home:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oyster and Pearl Unit 24B has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
