Corolla rental property booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First, have your family agree to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Gorgeous sound-view house with pool, entertainment room, decks, & grill has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual Currituck beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
