Tips and Tricks to get the best Currituck vacation property experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Carova rental home:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Carova. Book your Currituck rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanside 5BR home on the beautiful 4x4 beaches with private pool & hot tub! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
