Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Book your Currituck rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home in Carova:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Spacious canalfront home w\/ pool & hot tub on the 4x4 beaches of Carova! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
