Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer months are high season in the Currituck area. Book your Currituck rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best rental in the Currituck area:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Beachnuts Too: Pool w\/ Cabana
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific Currituck destination you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
