Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. To find the best value, change your family's Currituck vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect vacation rental:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Hot Tub, Dog Friendly, and Community Pool has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
