Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Summer is high season in Corolla. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best vacation rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beachin Fun (North Unit)
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
