Finding the best Currituck rental experience:
When to book a Currituck rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Currituck destination you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
