Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
When to book a Currituck rental home & When to go:
- In the Currituck area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Corolla. To find the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing and booking your prefectrental:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanside Home In Corolla with Private Pool and Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
