Tricks and tips to get the very best Currituck vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Booking your Currituck vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Sol Mate: Soundside, private pool, hot tub, dog friendly and great community amm has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
