Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Currituck area. To find the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Currituck rental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Charming oceanside Corolla home, just 1000 ft to the beach access! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
