Strategies to get the perfect Corolla rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Currituck area. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the perfectrental:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Pool Cabana w\/TV, Elevator, Dogs Allowed, Wheelchair Accessible, View has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
