Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Currituck area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Pool Cabana w\/TV, Elevator, Dogs Allowed, Wheelchair Accessible, View has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific Currituck destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
