Getting the best Currituck rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Finding the best rental in the Currituck area:
- Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Enjoy ocean views from the crow's nest at Shaka Shack! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
Have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
