How to book the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Corolla. To book the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. A Shore Thing: Private Pool, Elevator, Hot Tub has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
