Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Currituck vacation home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer is high season in Corolla. To book the best rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Corolla has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
