Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding the best rental value:
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. A Shore Pleasure: 3 story deck with awesome views, your own private pool and hot has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
