Tricks and tips to get the best Currituck vacation home experience:
When to book a Currituck rental & When to go:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Reserve your Currituck rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing and booking the best Currituck vacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- 700 ft to Beach Access has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Currituck beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
