Rental home tips:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Booking your Currituck vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Currituck rental:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 8BR OF Pets Elevator Theater 2 Community Pools has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
