Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Corolla rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Summer time is high season in Corolla. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
How to pick the best rental:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Third Row Whalehead Home w\/Pool + Spa, Sleeps 22! has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
