Strategies to get the optimal Currituck rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. Booking your Currituck vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Unobstructed ocean views and wild horses all around at Happy Ours! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific Currituck attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
