Booking the best Corolla vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- To find the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Currituck attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Currituck area:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The Pour House: Oceanside, Private Pool, Spa has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Currituck attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Have a great stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
