Tricks and tips to get the optimal Currituck rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Currituck area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect rental home:
- First, have your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Taproom's Landing: Hot Tub, Community Pool nearby, Close to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Advice for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
