Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Currituck vacation home:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 2024 Open weeks discounted ~150 yards to ocean ~ 4 master suites ~ Pups welcome has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Currituck beach you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Have a great stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
