Tips to get the perfect Currituck rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Inn-Seaclusion: Golf Membership, Elevator, Private Pool & Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a certain Currituck destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
