Tips and Tricks to get the very best Currituck vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanside, Private Pool, Hot Tub, Screened Porch, WC940, Whalin has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
