Tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- In the Currituck area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer time is high season in Corolla. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. WH868- Beautiful 5 bedroom, 4.5 bath vacation rental house in Corolla! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
