Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Corolla vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summer is high season in Corolla. To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Currituck vacation home:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. WH868- Beautiful 5 bedroom, 4.5 bath vacation rental house in Corolla! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
