Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Currituck vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Currituck area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the perfectrental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Sound Escape: Elevator, Hot Tub, Private Pool, Soundfront Location has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
