Hook, Wine, and Stinkers is the ultimate vacation spot in the much sought-after community of Corolla Light. This home leaves little doubt why some Corolla visitors ONLY stay in Corolla. What's not to appreciate? Maybe it is the short walk (no car needed) to some of the very best eateries on the Northern Beaches. Perhaps it is because you can walk to the coffee shop or maybe head over to play a round of miniature golf or even the ice cream shop without ever getting in a car! Guests of Corolla Light rave about the resort pools and beach accesses throughout the huge community. Corolla Light can be considered a cruise ship on land, boasting the second-biggest exercise facility on the Outer Banks and many community activities in the summer. This beautiful home checks all of the boxes for the ideal summer vacation! The closest beach access to Hook, Wine, and Stinkers is roughly 1300 ft (a fast walk). Trolley service is available June-August, weather permitting.

The Lower Level of the home offers up a enormous game room w/wet bar, mini refrigerator, and pool table. Additionally, in the game room, there is a sizable intelligent TV and plenty of seating for movie/game nights. If you head outside from the game room, you will find the private, covered outside shower and grilling space. This area gives way to the heated (w/fee) pool and new hot tub. Located at the end of a cul-de-sac, there is less through traffic than on the main roads in Corolla Light. NEW FOR 2025 - Second refrigerator located on the ground level (near the pool).

Whether it's spending the day climbing up the Currituck Light House, visiting the historic Whalehead Club, mastering Corolla's Adventure Park, calming by the private pool, or spending the day in the sand, Hook, Wine, and Stinkers has you covered! Take the trolley or walk the short distance to wide and clean beaches with a gradual drop-off that creates broad areas for safe and fun ocean recreation. Oftentimes referred to as a "Cruiseship on Land", Corolla Light is more than just a community, offering activities for the whole family including 10 tennis courts and the second-biggest exercise center on the Outer Banks. Numerous close by attractions provide plenty more to do, including shopping, dining, and historical sights, there’s an adventure in every direction right outside the door.

Tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and choosing the perfect Currituck vacation home:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. C1131 Corolla Light! Dogs! Heated Pool! Hot tub! Walk to restaurants! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
