Tips to get the best rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Corolla. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Private Pool, Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
