Our top Rental booking tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose the best rental:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Spacious, pet-friendly oceanside Corolla home w\/ private pool & hot tub! has 12 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
