Strategies for getting the perfect rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose and book your prefectrental:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Gorgeous estate in the Currituck Club, Corolla! Perfect for events and retreats! has 12 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
