Tips for getting the best Currituck vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Currituck area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Currituck area:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Basnight -- Beautiful New Construction Oceanfront Home with Elevator, Theater, Gameroom and Ocean Views! has 11 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a specific Currituck destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
